St. Barnabas ChurchSt. Barnabas Church was one of the Chapel Schools. It was initially constructed in 1830 at a cost of £800.00. The hurricane of 1831 destroyed that building and the chapel was rebuilt between 1838 and 1839 with the cornerstone being laid by Bishop William Hart Coleridge. This new chapel was consecrated on 9th October, 1839.
St. Barnabas Church is located in St. Barnabas, St. Michael. It is situated just off of Barbados' ABC highway, in the vicinity of the official residence of the Prime Minister of Barbados, Ilaro Court and the island's largest conference facility, The Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Conference and Cultural Centre.
St. Barnabas Church is ideally situated on a hill with commanding views across the St. George Valley of Barbados. This church continues to serve the communities of The Pine and The Ivy, both densely populated areas of Barbados as well as other surrounding districts.
