Paynes Bay Beach

Paynes Bay Beach is a lively, easily accessed beach situated on the West Coast of Barbados, in the parish of St. James, with Sandy Lane and Holetown to the north, and Fitts Village and Batts Rock Bay to the south.

Nestled in a small Barbados bay, a wide, deep sweeping arc of glorious golden sand awaits you at Paynes Bay Beach, bordered by plenty of cool shady trees. Be careful of the numerous marked Manchineel trees though, and make sure children aren't tempted to eat the tiny but poisonous Manchineel apples.

The beach at Paynes Bay is usually fairly busy, but never overcrowded. Paynes Bay Beach also offers parking facilities, showers and toilets, on duty lifeguards, and retail outlets for refreshments and food.

The waters of the Caribbean Sea at Paynes Bay Beach are warm, calm and clear, and the quiet waves have no undertow or dangerous currents, so it is the perfect place to swim and snorkel. Watersports are also available, so why not have a go at kayaking, sailing a Hobie cat, or speeding along the sea on a jet ski?

Another attraction in this area of Barbados is the Paynes Bay Fishing Complex, a fish-processing hall for the fisherman of the West Coast. Locals and visitors alike are welcomed here, and many enjoy the chance to purchase freshly caught fish from a variety on offer.

As Paynes Bay is only a short distance to the south of the luxurious and prestigious Sandy Lane, this area in Barbados is prolific with luxury hotels, villas and apartments. You can even walk all the way from Paynes Bay Beach to Sandy Lane Beach and decide which property you would most like to buy - if you won the lottery, that is!
