Cool JazzBetween the months of January and June on the last Sunday of each month, a string of jazz events take place on the island of Barbados. Labelled Cool Jazz, this event has grown in strides over the years to the point of being moved from its initial venue of Southern Palms to a bigger, more equipped venue at the Plantation Garden Theatre.
Cool Jazz was conceptualised by Notes to Note Inc. with a primary aim of showcasing Barbados' best jazz acts along with the best jazz acts from the region. Upcoming jazz artiste need not be intimidated by this setting as the floor is open for them during the discovery segment that affords them the opportunity to make way for the nights featured acts. This way, the audience gets a taste of what young and upcoming jazz acts have to offer.
Evidence of the competence Notes to Note possesses, comes to the fore whenever this Jazz event comes off in a successful way. Christopher Harper was trained at the Berklee College of Music and holds a post graduate diploma in Arts & Cultural Enterprise Management from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad. Based on Mr. Harper's afiliation with the Burklee College of Music, he was able to formulate a mutually benefitting relationship that would have seen one of the Berklee professors perforoming at one of the Cool Jaz events.
Cool Jazz on the beautiful island of Barbados is a must to see on any given Sunday evening. After all, Sundays in Barbados are seen as a time to relax and this is surely one way in which you can do so.
