The Spirit BondLocated within the environs of historic Bridgetown and its Garrison, the Old Spirit Bond is certainly awash with history. Dating back to the 18th century when it was used in the capacity of a warehouse for different types of rum and spirits. It was ideally situated next to the careenage as this was the point at which trading vessels would berth to remove cargo and collect molasses and sugar to be taken back to Europe and North America.
Today the building has been refurbished, preserving the original brick walls but as opposed to rums and spiirits, it has welcomed a new kind of life by way of being the home to many small shops.
Very much in the hive of activity, the Spirit Bond still stands majestic and gracefullly looks over Bridgetown and the careenage.
