Barbados Association of Professional Engineers

Barbados Association of Professional Engineers has represented the engineering community in Barbados for more than forty (40) years. It was founded in 1964 and boasts a membership that ranges from professional engineers to students.

 

This voluntary non-profit organization, was primarily established to:

Safeguard the professional interest of its members
Represent the interest of the general public in matters relating to public safety where the practice of engineering is involved
Advance the engineering profession in Barbados

 

How The Barbados Association of Professional Engineers is Managed

An Executive Committee which is elected by the annual ballot of its membership is responsible for managing the day-to-day business of The Barbados Association of Professional Engineers. Membership consists of Honorary Members, Corporate Members, Graduate Members, Student Members and Affiliate members, all bound by the Association's professional code of ethics.

 

The secretariat takes care of the daily operations of the organisation.

 

Office hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

 

Activities of the Barbados Association of Professional Engineers

In keeping with its objectives, the Barbados Association of Professional Engineers has representatives on several statutory and other bodies, including:

The Barbados Community College Advisory Committee
The Council of Caribbean Engineering Organisations
The Electrical Wiremen Association
The Engineers Registration Board
The Engineers Scholarship Trust
The National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety And Health
The Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic Board
The Engineering and Building Component Division Council

 

The Association also organises several formal and informal activities for its members and the wider community, including:

Training and Trade Seminars
Monthly Luncheons
Career Showcases
Tours to Places of Engineering Interest

 

In addition to the above activities, the Barbados Association of Professional Engineers also publishes a newsletter.
