Barbados Reggae FestivalFestivals, festivals and more festivals. These are more and more becoming a passionate aspect of Barbados' culture. It is no different with the Barbados Reggae festival as this too, brings to the fore an interesting kind of passion.
Interestingly enough, the mountainous and heavily wooded island of Jamaica comes to mind when one thinks of reggae. However, despite their preeminence throughout the Caribbean in the world of reggae, the beautiful island of Barbados is still in a position to offer some of these very stimulating sounds to our audiences here on the island. So much so that the Barbados Reggae Festival is seen as one of the largest reggae festivals in the Caribbean today.
Summer time on the island of Barbados prematurely comes when nine (9) of the hottest days in the month of April are experienced as the Barbados Reggae Festival gets started. Local and overseas artistes come together much to the delight of thousands of eager fans who just can't wait to soak up these reggae vibes. Regional artistes such as Beenie Man, Buju Banton and Dobie Dobson along with local artistes such as Verseewild, Lil Rick and Buggy have all graced the stage of past Barbados Reggae Festivals.
The Barbados Reggae Festival is the parent show to many other events that include the Vintage Reggae Show & Dance, Bajan Reggae Night and the Reggae Party Cruise. The festival comes to a climax with the hosting of Reggae on the Hill which takes place at the historic Farley Hill National Park. These serene grounds augur well for such a climax as spectators get a chance to relax on the lawn, enjoy the constant breeze and less we forget, soak up as much of the tantalising reggae music that they possibly can.
When visiting Barbados, please don't forget to check out the Barbados Reggae Festival as this will take you as close as you want to get to the best of the best in reggae entertainment in the Caribbean.
