ShoppingShopping in Barbados is certainly a wide and varied experience. You have your pick of the local craft villages, where you can find some of the best examples of local arts and craft, many of which utilize indigenous materials to the more upscale, air conditioned malls that you would find dotting this tiny little island of ours.
However, a shopping experience would not be worth much in Barbados without a visit to the popular and historic Bridgetown, the central location for shopping here on the island. Here you will find many of the large department stores, modern mini malls, jewelry stores and so much more. Shopping in Bridgetown, especially on a Saturday morning is truly a Bajan experience.
Visitors to the island of Barbados also have the luxury of shopping duty free for many of the high quality merchandise like jewelry, perfumes, clothes etc. at some very reasonable prices but you must remember to have your travel documents with you in order to take advantage of this service. Duty free shopping is simply tax free shopping where similar items are sold for between 30% - 50%f what they would normally retail for in the U. S. A. or Europe; a great deal if you can get it.
Additionally, Barbados also offers many discount stores where locals typically shop and many of these stores are located in Bridgetown in the popular Swan Street.
There are also many local supermarkets available and several convenience stores where you can stock up on your much needed supplies.
Barbados offers something in the lines of shopping for everyone, so make the trek to one of our many shopping areas throughout Broad Street, Speightstown, The west coast or even the south coast and indulge yourself in the popular worldwide pastime of shopping.
