Scarlet Bar & Restaurant
Simple elegance provided in understated surroundings is one description for Scarlet Restaurant located in Paynes Bay, St. James, Barbados. Painted in bright red (thus the name Scarlet), it is rather hard to miss while driving west on Highway 1 towards Holetown, St. James from Bridgetown.
Scarlet offers an eclectic blend of cuisine - International with a Caribbean/Asian twist interspersed. Dinner is served most evenings, however call ahead to ensure there are no disappointments.
Try their Seared Beef Thai Salad or Flying Fish Lollipops, Lemon Grass Salmon Skewers, Crumbed and Pan-fried Aubergine or stick to a tried and tested burger, seasoned to perfection. Of course there is a dessert selection for those persons who cannot resist. Toffee Pudding, anyone??
A fun place to be, Scarlet is brightly decorated with huge contemporary pictures of some people as well as the abstract, which lend to the relaxed and charming atmosphere. It's a place where couples come to spend time, friends meet for a drink and girls get together for their wedding showers. It meets the needs of each of the persons who walk through its doors; from the busy local executive to the first-time visitor to Barbados. It is one of the places to be seen.
If you are looking to dine affordably in stylish decor on the west coast of Barbados: Scarlet it is!! The restaurant is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and the bar remains in high gear for at least another hour and a half!
